feel the light shining in the dark of the night | She waited in the control room. Enough time had passed for the others to come to grips with what they were each facing. It had only been about a day since each of them woke up to find the ship off course and their connection with earth completely gone. Their memories of their lives back on earth was also mysteriously wiped and this had caused many of them to go their separate ways to process what had taken place, at least this is what Alexis assumed whens he went off to the Med bay to drink her troubles away. Thanks to that decision she was slightly hung over but no less waited for the others to arrive, thinking that each one of them would be in the control room soon for their morning briefing.
Alexis sat in the corner, her legs crossed as she waited for the others to arrive. In one hand she held a water bottle and in her other, a few small pills she was preparing to take in order to aid her small hangover. While she knew she probably should have been embarrassed to have consumed so much the day before, especially give the fact she was supposed to be the sane one out of the bunch, she couldn't help but realize how doomed they all were. There was no telling what would happen now. How long could they possibly drift through space before they ran out of food or hit uncharted space debris. There was no amount of skills she could use to save them.
Alexis was prepared for the worst but how was she supposed to fix a mess like this. Sure guts spilling out was simple, but memories suddenly wiped and an important signal being lost was beyond her. Part of her thought that perhaps this all some dream. She half expected to wake up again from deep sleep and realize that none of this was actually playing out but no matter how much she wished for such a thing to happen in never came. Silently she took her pills and waited for the others.

Eli’s hands slammed against the computer console as once more he attempts to glean information from the computer failed again. The crew, despite being reluctant to be around each other, had set a meeting to discuss how they had gotten so off track from Earth and why their memories had decided to continue taking the right way to Earth. Now they were travelling to god knows where, for reasons only god knew. Eli had hoped by the time the meeting took place, he’d have the vaguest idea what was going on. But he has as clueless now as he was when he first woke up to realize his memories were gone.
He was slightly dreading going into the meeting. It wasn’t just the fact he had nothing to give them, but rather there was a certain air of uncertainly that pushed everyone apart. At least that’s how he felt. There was a difficulty in relating to people when you didn’t know anything about yourself, even if they were just as clueless as you. One would think collective memory loss would bring people together. Shared tragedy could build bonds as strong as steel, but this hadn’t been the case. Eli felt uncomfortable around everyone, but was willing to admit that might have been the case before the memory loss.
He reluctantly left the consoles behind. He had set up the sensors to continuously sweep the surrounding space, looking for anything of interest. Hopefully he’d find where they were heading before they actually reached it, or at the very least pick up something interesting to look at whilst they pondered just how screwed they really were. It was little the least he could do. Eli believed he could control the ship; however he didn’t want to do anything until he was sure. They were clearly going somewhere and if he interfered with that, things could go horribly. He couldn’t direct the ship back to Earth because he didn’t know where Earth was. Space was too damn big.
He entered the meeting room to find the ships doctor already there. He smiled gently at her, “Hey..” He wasn’t sure what to say. ‘Sure sucks about the whole memory loss thing’ just didn’t seem appropriate and that was probably the whole point of the meeting. “So I rigged up the sensors to keep an eye out of anything interesting… I mean it does it anyway, but I rigged it to the alarm and altered the search parameters. I figured we’d want to pay attention to things like habitable planets to prevent any food shortages. I’m not entirely sure about how humans digest alien foods…”

Clair walked into the room but decided that she was gonna remain in the back corner with hopes that she won't be spotted and forced to talk. Unlike the others who were more concerned with how they were going to survive and handle the situation she was far more concerned with how long the memory issue was gonna last it seems to have not only messed with her memory but the memory of the books she has read and all the information in them. Which leaves her pretty useless and she spent the entire day looking for books only not to find any. So right now her annoyance level was off the charts and she had nothing to hit someone with.

feel the light shining in the dark of the night | Alexis looked up from as Eli approached. In a way he was only slightly familiar. Her memories of their early days together on the ship seemed to only be blurs to her. Her head still pounded so as she listened to him she gently rubbed her temples. This of course could have been mistaken as annoyance, but it was simply a way for her to try and relieve her bad decisions from the day before. "Do you really think that will work. I mean not to put any holes in your plan but I doubt a small colony of bacteria on some planet in the middle of nowhere is really going to do us much good."
As far as Alexis knew there wasn't really anything "out there" in the universe. Aliens were merely a small life form that could possibly be found of planets. After all, wasn't this what their mission was slightly about? Seeing if they could find something more? To Alexis it felt like they were relying on finding a needle in the haystack. As far as she could remember (which wasn't a lot) there wasn't anything beyond the life on earth, and their journey into the unknown was a hopeful though that they could perhaps find something. "I'm not sure what all you remember, I can probably guess not much, but I really doubt that there is any life out there beyond the life in this ship, which can only last so long without food." The doctor, who was supposed to keep the others alive and at least keep them in good spirits was only showing her doubt for the situation. This was the only thing she could do without having to deal with the fear she really felt.
As Clair walked into the room she rose an eyebrow. The woman didn't seem like she wanted to talk at all, and considering the mood that Alexis was already in she didn't mind ignoring her all together. "I probably just need more water though, don't mind me," she grumbled as she unscrewed the cap of her water bottle and continued to battle her hangover. "but if you want to dream about apple trees on distant planets be my guest. I'm the doctor, what do I know about what's around us."

[attr="class","BOXU"] STARS ARE ONLY VISIBLE IN DARKNESS He stood at the door of his room, two fingers placed on one vein on his neck as he closed his eyes. And although it looked odd, he was feeling his pulse as he calmly breathed in and out. You've forgotten everything about Earth. He told himself, remaining there as his mind traveled deep into his subconscious. But you're alive. He thought, the pulse that beat against his finger feeling like the only comfort that he could grasp. The fact that he had lost everything so fast had bothered him deeply the first time he discovered it. But he had slowly come to grips, calming his mind and body. And for a moment he remained there. But he soon remembered that he wasn't the only person on this ship. And although he wasn't one hundred percent sure why, he had to make sure the rest of his crew wasn't losing their minds. So standing straight, his door opened and he walked through, making his way to the control room.
Once he got there, he was ready to walk in when he paused at the voice of who he recalled as the ship doctor. But the only thing he had heard was a comment about apple trees. And walking in, he shrugged and immediately responded to her question as if he'd been in the room the whole time. "Maybe thinking of Apple Trees isn't so bad in this situation." And as he walked in and saw that the doctor was sitting there, water in hand with the aura of someone drowsy, he automatically picked up. "I don't judge but I believe that drinking will not make you feel better, Madame Docteur." He added a bit of French, trying to be playful but the frown on his face betraying it all. "It's better if everyone is sober so we can all contribute to the issue at hand." And when he saw the girl in the corner, he waved for her to come closer. "And hiding in the shadows won't help. Come on, were all in this together." Clair sat and listened to the conversation taking place till a new man came into the room and said "Maybe thinking of Apple Trees isn't so bad in this situation."the man walked in closer and started talking to the doctor "I don't judge but I believe that drinking will not make you feel better, Madame Docteur. It's better if everyone is sober so we can all contribute to the issue at hand." and then he jesters tords Clair and says "And hiding in the shadows won't help. Come on, were all in this together." Clair just continued to sit there for a few seconds till she finally says "I hate apples, and have no interest in moving from here" She thinks hopefully the man decides not to speak anymore to her. She crosses her legs together in an attempt to get comfortable.

To say that Annalee was frustrated by the events so far was an understatement. Not only did it seem like she was missing memories but there was also no contact with Earth - which meant they were all alone out here and there was a chance no exploration would occur. That was a pain in itself. The only reason she was here was to explore other worlds and find out more about them - now that dream seemed to be fading with each moment. There didn’t seem to be any clues around the ship either, she was sure to have done her best with exploring as much of the place as possible. It was all useless. There was nothing and the only other people that might have answers were in a similar position of having amnesia - or at least they were damn good at pretending, if they could remember. Annalee definitely thought there was a chance some of them could be lying about their intentions; though that might just be down to watching too many films in the past. Not that she could remember any of them all too well.
After sitting in her room for a while, staring at a private space suit she had there, Annalee finally gave up on thinking and stood. Her hands quickly smoothed down the clothing that she was wearing before finally the woman exited the room and made her way towards where some meeting was meant to take place. Annalee had given up on expecting anything to come from this, depression building up more and more with each moment that she was trapped in this place. Maybe one of the others would be kind enough to open one of the airlocks and let her out into space at some point - at least that way there’d be some freedom before the inevitable death that was coming. That rather happy-go-lucky personality that she might have had was fading fast and it really just made things that bit worse. Not that the situation could be much less desirable than it was now.
With a sigh, Annalee entered the room that this meeting was meant to be taking place in, her eyes scanning over the few people that were already there. “Please excuse my lateness.” A small nod followed her words before she moved to one side, staying out of the way as she took a seat and observed what was going on. Her arms folded over her chest as she leaned back, making sure to watch everyone for a moment before her attention went down to the ground. Perhaps she could be thankful that she wasn’t alone, at least? Though a part of her hated the fact that others were suffering through this madness. Another sigh escaped her as she tried to start thinking on something else that had no relation to being lost in space - though that was hard to do when all one knew was recent events. tag: Everyone ▪ words: 491 ▪ ooc: Meep |
